Leonardo da Vinci was born on 15th April, 1452 and died on 2nd May, 1519. He was an Italian and has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man. He is considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.

Leonardo was and is best known as an artist, the creator of such masterpieces as the Mona Lisa, Madonna of the Rocks, and The Last Supper. Yet Leonardo was far more than a great artist: he had one of the best scientific minds of his time.
